Waldemar Hülscher
Waldemar Hülscher is a seasoned project and contracts executive with 20+ years’ experience delivering complex brownfield infrastructure across Africa including award-winning projects in the industrial, mining, petrochemical and power sectors. He led major works during his years at Stefanutti Stocks and later served as one of the founding Directors of Teichmann Structures for a decade. A registered Professional Construction Manager (SACPCMP), Waldemar establishes ISO-aligned quality systems, a rigorous safety culture, and robust project controls to ensure predictable outcomes. His focus is practical engineering, trusted methods, and transparent commercial management that protects schedule, cost, and service life. Recognized for responsive collaboration and calm execution under pressure, he consistently secures repeat business by delivering safe, timely, high-quality results in live operational environments.
Dermot Knight
Dermot is a founding director of Ascon Africa. He has more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry from supervision of construction projects to senior positions in a major international consulting firm. After graduating with a BSc degree in Civil Engineering, he spent a year doing post-graduate research before joining the consulting firm Associated Consultants where he specialized in the management of industrial and commercial projects. In 1983, Associated Consultants amalgamated with Scott Wilson to form Scott Wilson Zimbabwe and Dermot was appointed associate and became a partner in 1986. Dermot held several senior positions within the Scott Wilson Group culminating in his appointment as CEO of Scott Wilson Africa and a director of Scott Wilson International Division in 1999. In 2006 he was part of the management buy-out of Scott Wilson Zimbabwe which subsequently became Ascon Africa.
Peter Gordon
Peter is the Co-Founder of Crest Capital, which he established in 2014. He is a seasoned finance executive and chartered accountant (CA), having qualified in 1984. His extensive career spans over three decades, focusing on corporate finance, business recovery, and risk management. Prior to Crest Capital, he led the Business Reorganization and Recovery Services division at Grant Thornton South Africa. Peter also founded and ran Crest Gordon Consulting (Pty) Ltd from 2004, providing advisory services in corporate finance and business recovery. Before this, he was an executive member of Absa Corporate & Merchant Bank (now Absa Capital) from 1995 to 2004, holding executive responsibility for all Absa’s foreign operations. His expertise includes project financing, capital restructuring, company recoveries, and turnarounds, having successfully driven high-profile public and private company recapitalizations, often in cases of management fraud and mismanagement.
Toni Kolb
With over 50 years of hands-on experience in the African grain and material handling industry, Toni Kolb is a seasoned Milling Engineer known for his deep technical expertise and reliable project execution. Toni has successfully managed and completed numerous projects across the continent, covering every stage of grain and material handling, storage, and processing. His practical understanding of both the engineering and commercial sides of the business enables him to deliver high quality, cost-effective solutions tailored to each client’s specific needs. Recognized for his integrity and professionalism, Toni is highly respected within the industry and has built long-standing relationships with major clients who repeatedly seek his guidance and leadership on new projects. His exceptional negotiation skills consistently ensure that projects achieve the best possible quality and value. Driven by experience, precision, and trust, Toni continues to bring expertise and insight to every project he undertakes - helping clients build efficient, sustainable, and successful operations across Africa.
